Rise to the Top - the Kinsei-Do Ranks
Inspired by the martial arts background that founder JC hails from, your progress in the journey to peak functional fitness is signified by your rise through six ranks (from White to Black Belt). Each new rank "unlocks" new workouts that will challenge you and improve your abilities, ensuring you stay motivated and interested!
WhiteNo matter how fit you already are, standard exercise methodology, safety precautions and common sense dictate that you should start at the beginning: as a White Belt.
Just as a blank piece of paper or canvas is white and empty, so is your Kinsei-Do history and experience at this stage. And just as a blank canvas allows the artist complete freedom to create his masterpiece, so does this stage of your journey give you the full freedom to define your fitness goals and create the roadmap to your own masterpiece! |
YellowYellow represents the earth as well as the sun, as it is the earth from which all kinds of life - from delicate flowers to majestic trees - grow, and it is the sun which nurtures and provides the energy for it.
As you achieve the Yellow Belt, your fitness will already be noticeably improved, and you will feel a new burst of energy accompany you in all of your daily activities. You are on the right path! |
GreenGreen stands for the plant which is growing every day, just like your functional fitness is increasing with each day.
In extension of the plant symbolism, Green fittingly often also represents nature, and as a Kinsei-Do practitioner of this level, your fitness and physical capacities are generally already very well developed and in line with the natural capabilities that all human beings should have. Congratulations, you have retaken control of your right to pain free and unencumbered movement ability! |
BlueBlue signifies water, which just like a good level of balanced functional fitness, is not only essential for life, but as the great Bruce Lee already knew, extremely flexible, subtle, versatile and yet ever so powerful.
At this level, you a (figuratively) like water, capable of overcoming any physical obstacle and mastering daily challenges with ease. Blue also stands for the sky which the plant that is your fitness is now firmly growing towards. And as the saying goes, the sky's the limit! |
BlackBlack, the opposite of white, the level where no physical feat is daunting and no challenge seems impossible, is the final level of Kinsei-Do.
Like the fabled ninjas of the ancient Far East or Batman of modern Gotham City, black stands for your mastery of fear of physical obstacles, and your absolute confidence in your abilities to overcome them! That said, make no mistake about it, the Black Belt is the final level of Kinsei-Do, but it is by no means the end of your journey. You now have a fantastic and well rounded foundation of physical capabilities to build upon, so stay active, keep practicing and forever improving! |
Note: You have probably already read about the three tracks, and might wonder how those fit together with the six ranks/belts. The answer is that the tracks are simply a way of catering the workouts to various goals and backgrounds. You can progress through the ranks in all of the three tracks, and with each higher rank, the workouts will get more challenging - relative to your track! Every workout will be available in each of the three tracks!
