Third Edition, July 2020

Hello, Ninjas and friends, and welcome to the third edition of our monthly newsletter, the Ninja News!

June saw our 4th anniversary (virtual) gettogether and quiz, sponsored by YouC1000Water. 6 Ninjas joined the fun, and the race was tight until the end, but "Kinsei-Dan" held off the challenge from Willi and the late charge by Khal-Desy to take the top spot!*
Furthermore, we launched, in collaboration with Jakarta's CrossFit OG Jem and our long term FIT Games partner Fabio, the first virtual team competition in Indonesia: the Warrior Games 2020!
17 teams have signed up, and workouts will be released every Wednesday throughout this month

* honorable mention to our Spartan couple, King Faisal and Queen Kat, and Stronghold powerhouse Halim, who fought well, but were ultimately outdone by the superior Ninja knowledge of Kinsei-Dan!
Last but not least, we wrapped up the first batch of our 6 Week Stronger and Faster Runner program! The participants who consistently followed the program and completed all or most of the workouts were able to achieve absolutely mind-blowing improvements! More on that below.

What's New

As gyms across Jakarta are starting to reopen, we still remain closed, and Coach Jo's return to Indonesia is at the moment of writing also not yet fixed. Rest assured, however, that our gym, the Home of Tangerang's Fittest, the premiere functional training facility in Gading Serpong, will be back!

And until then, let's keep fit and healthy together, and look forward to the day we can all throw around some iron again!

Customized Strength and Conditioning program - completely FREE

Following our gym's closure at the end of March, we started putting out a daily WOD to help you stay fit and get some daily movement in.
We've now taken that to the next level: a structured, fully mapped out General Physical Preparedness (GPP) - which is basically just a fancy way of saying "to be fit for the unknown" - program is now available to all Ninjas and Stronghold community members - for FREE!

Check In and Virtual Workout Together via Zoom

On April 26th, Coaches Kafka, Wita, Atik and Jo held a teleconference via Zoom with several members of the community, to check in on everyone's wellbeing, mental and physical health and happiness.

On May 1st, we followed this up with a virtual workout together. Everyone submitted a short, 3 minute workout before the meeting, and we got together online and did five of them (for a total workout time of 15 minutes plus breaks) together.

It was so much fun that we are doing it again soon!

An interview with the one and only "Kinsei-Dan"!
What is your name? How long have you been a part of the community?

Daniel, I'm part of the community for around 3 years I guess.

​What do you do when you are not training/working out?


I have my own business and I spend a lot of time with my family.

​What is your favorite movement, workout or type of training?


I enjoy to workout in a group, with a coach, this really gives me motivation to push harder. I also enjoy running and trained for a Triathlon until it was canceled because of the Corona lock-down.

What has been your biggest (training) success, or favorite memory of being with the community?

My biggest success was my Keto time and preparation for the Fitgames 2019. Started early 2019 with 92Kg and terrible fitness, reached 75Kg and a good fitness level to compete in the Fitgames. I think I was 2nd after the first and 1st after the second event. I am maintaining my weight for over a year now.

What do you miss the most of the gym or the community (since the closure)?

The community and the motivation that comes with it. Canceling the Triathlon in Australia last minute was a real blow but I hope to catch up once we are back to normal.

What is the first thing you think you will do when the world returns to normal and our doors open again?

I can't see that far in the future 😬 but I hope we have some good outdoor workouts and some nice long runs.

The gym is closed. Moving around outside is restricted. Meeting friends and training buddies is prohibited.
